2023 Wrap Up

This will likely be my last post of the year. Thank you all for your support this year.

My Top 10 of the year

  1. Without a doubt, the achievement of the year goes to being awarded the Pandemic Recovery Grant from Mass Cultural Council. Due to their support I was able to continue this wild and colorful adventure.

  2. The Southbridge Cultural Council funded Fabulous and Functional Embroidery for Mending, a class at the Jacob Edwards Library in Southbridge, MA.

  3. Southbridge Community Television not only filmed the class, but also interviewed me, resulting in a wonderful YouTube video.

  4. Mending became more of a focus of my work this year. Participating in Mend March, being listed in the World Mending Map, and offering mending services.

  5. This year we started at the Southbridge Farmer’s Market at the beginning of the season and went through until nearly the end. I used part of my grant money to purchase a tent, extending the number of weeks we could participate.

  6. I offered a Mobile Mending Service at the market. People could drop off their items one week and pick them up the next. I met new people this way and helped people to extend the life of their clothes.

  7. Partway through August I added the Charlton Farmer’s Market to my weekly activities.

  8. After seeing a call for artists from the Burncoat Center for Art and Wellness in Worcester, MA, I submitted my work and became a vendor there. I’ll bet you can guess which items I took there, but why guess? Why not visit and see?

  9. I submitted classes to teach at the BCAW and these classes will start in January. Check their website for more information or email me for details.

  10. I attended Crispina ffrench’s Rags to Riches Textile Recycling Summit. Still trying to process all of the things I learned from the event. There were so many inspiring people doing amazing things.

Here’s my top 9 instagram posts from 2023. I feel how appropriate it is to have a picture of Petunia Rose as one of the top photos in this Year of the Rabbit.

As for 2024? It will be the Year of the Dragon. Wonder if one will be in next year’s top 9. Can’t wait to get at it. As always, I have plenty of ideas floating about in my head.
